History of VISION

VISION was started in the fall of 2001 in response to a lack of support systems for Hmong young adults. Believing that Hmong young adults had the capacity to create social changes if only they were given the right support systems, VISION organized two conferences focused on empowering Hmong young adults, providing them with a voice, and instilling them with skills to succeed.

The first VISION conference in the summer of 2002 called "From Silence into Speech" brought together 100 participants from Minnesota and Wisconsin to the Univeristy of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. By the time VISION held it's second conference, word had spread as far as Kansas and North Carolina. In 2003, VISION held its second conference "Talking The Talk and Walking The Walk."

Currently, VISION would like to transition into an official 501©3 non-profit organization to further meet the needs of Hmong young adults.
