Welcome to V.I.S.I.O.N.

Greeting and welcome to the Hmong VISION website. VISION is currently looking for volunteers to help lead the 2007 Awards and future events. If interested, please email hmongvision@hmongvision.org. Photo above is a compilation of 50 individual pieces of self reflections. Each piece was completed by 2006 VISION retreat attendee's

October 13-15, 2006 |12303 Lakamaga Trail North | Marine, MN | 55047

By giving attendees and an opportunity to reward your hard work by attending this retreat everyone was able to relax as they reflected on their past work, refine their skills, refocus on what they believed in, and rejuvenate for the future. On October 13 to 15, VISION hosted their first retreat entitled: "Unleashed: Discovering the Superhero Within You." This three-day retreat was a great opportunity for attendees to meet other people who want to create change and engage in interactive actives to refine their skills for working on community issues.

With over 50 attendee's VISION started the night off with a Casino Night. The Casino Night offered a Fortune Teller, Karaoke, Roulette, Texas Hold'em, Black Jack, and Bingo. The grand prize winners for the night included Yer Yang (Minneapolis) in winning a Badminton Set in Bingo and Peter Yang (St. Paul) in winning a Star War's Risk set in Texas Hold'em. A intense game of Lord of the Rings Risk and Monopoly kept attendees up until midnight as on viewers watched to see who would win. Saturdays activities included three workshops. The first workshop focused on value's. Nou Yang of Girls Scouts helped attendee's refocus on their values in life. Mai Moua, an independent Leadership Consultant, helped attendee's understand their privileges. Lastly, attendee's defined themselves on a self portrait mural conducted by Seexeng Lee, an art teacher at Patrick Henry (Minneapolis). The night ended with attendee's participating in an re-enactment of the journey across Laos (a.k.a. Hmong Odyssey/Journey) moderated by Tzianeng Vang of Concordia College. As the retreat came to a closure on Sunday, attendee's were able to enjoy outdoor activities including volleyball, basketball, football, Hmong games, a refreshing spa room, which included express manicures, foot massages, and back massages, and were given the opportunity to catch up on their sleep.
